Conference Deliberates on Systemic Measures to Combat Homelessness

Bengaluru: On June 22, 2024, Namma Kutumba – Dignity to the Homeless hosted a national conference at Bharat Scouts and Guides Auditorium. The event gathered state officials, NGOs, and corporate partners to address homelessness in Bengaluru. Highlights included a status report on homelessness by Project Smile Trust, the screening of the film ‘Visible Invisible,’ and discussions on public-private partnerships. Key speakers emphasized empathy, inclusion, and access to care for the homeless. Namma Kutumba has reached over 16,000 individuals with health and social services since its inception in 2022.

A collective in Bengaluru called Namma Kutumba – Dignity to the Homeless is fostering conversations through service provision and advocacy. Namma Kutumba – Bangalore Homeless Programme unites like-minded organizations to plan and deliver health, mental health, and social care services for the homeless in Bangalore City. The leading organizations in this collective are Project Smile Trust, Aaladamara Foundation (an initiative of The Banyan and Azim Premji Foundation), HBS Hospital, and Thanal.
